The market is full of team development products that help individuals understand their preferred working style, team role, learning preferences and so on. A number of these products are excellent; our executive coaches use them! However they are primarily developmental in focus, helping each individual understand themselves (and their impact on others) more deeply. While this sort of understanding is helpful it doesn't necessarily correlate with high performance in the team. For that, a comprehensive look at the features that characterise the whole team, rather than the individuals within it, is required.
